Voting Information for the 2026 Election
Making a plan to vote is one of the most important steps you can take to participate in our democracy. Below is everything you need to know to vote in Alaska’s 2026 elections.

Register to Vote
Voter registration deadline for the General Election: October 3, 2026
Register or update your voter registration online:

Early Voting
Early voting for the General Election begins: October 19, 2026
Early voting locations and hours vary. Check the voter portal to find the option closest to you.
Voting on Election Day
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Before you go:
Confirm your voter registration. If you don’t see your registration, call the Division of Elections at 907-522-8683.
Once you’ve confirmed your information, you’re ready to vote.
Voting by Mail (Absentee Voting)
If you plan to vote absentee:

Mailing your ballot:
Completed absentee ballots require $1.46 in postage (two Forever stamps). The U.S. Postal Service has stated that ballots will still be delivered even if postage is insufficient.
If you request an absentee ballot but decide to vote in person instead, you may still do so. Bring your absentee ballot with you to your polling place.
Alaska’s Voting System
Alaska uses open primaries and ranked choice voting. Voters may rank candidates in order of preference in the General Election. We encourage voters to review how ranked choice voting works before Election Day.
